The jacket that ended the coat debate — that's what this is. I'm 67, and every winter morning used to start with a negotiation at the coat hooks: the warm coat that weighs a toddler, the light one that lets the wind straight through, the smart one that mustn't get dog on it. Winnie waits by the door while I referee.

What I wanted was one jacket that wins every morning without a debate.
