Every knit I owned clung somewhere I'd rather it didn't — this one just… falls

The jumper that skims instead of clings — that's what this is, and the difference is the whole day. I'm 67, and most knits and I have the same argument by mid-afternoon: they grip the middle, they ride up, they need a discreet tug outside every shop window. Comfortable for an hour; a negotiation by three.

What I wanted was a jumper that touched my shoulders and then politely minded its own business.

Then I found the Lorienne from a British label called York Boutique — a poncho-style sweater in warm camel-brown with a soft V-neck and a wide, easy drape. I chose the brown; there are ten colours, all the way to orange and purple for the brave.

The shape is the secret. It hangs from the shoulders like a poncho but with proper sleeves, so the fabric falls in a clean line instead of following every contour — which is why nothing grips, nothing rides up, and nothing needs tugging outside the butcher's. The V-neck keeps it flattering rather than shapeless, the soft breathable knit is warm without being stuffy, and it drops happily over a shirt or a thin roll-neck when the temperature really drops.

It hangs from the shoulders and simply falls — nothing gripping the middle, nothing riding up, a V-neck that flatters — and by three o'clock I'm still not tugging at anything.

It was £34.95, half the usual £70, and I'd have paid that for the end of the tugging alone. A fortnight to send it back, free delivery.

It has since done a café morning, a long amble through town and one three-hour lunch, and at no point did I once adjust it — which I only realised on the walk home, and which is frankly the entire review. Sandra called it 'very continental'. I've decided to accept that.
