The comfy sandals I can adjust to fit my fussy feet

I'm 67, and my feet are, frankly, fussy. They swell in the heat, they're a little wide, and by the afternoon a sandal that fitted in the morning is digging in. Fiddly buckles are no help when your fingers aren't what they were, and I'd all but given up on finding a summer sandal that actually fitted me all day.

Every pair seemed to be the wrong shape somewhere — too tight over the instep, too loose at the heel, rubbing at the toe. Comfortable and well-fitting felt like far too much to ask.

What a relief. There are three straps you simply adjust to fit — over the toe, the instep and the heel — so I get it exactly right, even when my feet swell later on. The footbed is cushioned and gently contoured, the heel strap keeps everything secure, and there's not a fiddly buckle in sight. Light, steady and comfortable all day.

Sandals this comfortable, I assumed, would be sixty pounds. But York Boutique sells direct, so they were £29.95 in the summer sale. For feet as fussy as mine, they've been worth every penny.
