The featherlight trainers that let me walk all morning without my feet aching

Trainers light enough to walk all morning in, that wouldn't leave my feet hot and aching — after years of clumpy shoes, that's what I was after. I'm 67, and I do love my morning walk with Winnie, but my old trainers were heavy as boots, my feet would swelter by the time we got home, and the hard soles left my heels sore. I'd started cutting our walks short, which neither of us wanted.

What I wanted was a proper cushioned trainer that was light on the foot and let it breathe — something I could walk a good distance in and forget about.

The whole upper is a fine knitted mesh, which is why my feet stay cool where my old trainers cooked them, and there's a thick cushioned sole that soaks up the hard pavement so my heels don't ache. They're so light I barely feel them, and the grippy sole keeps me sure-footed on a damp path. I do the full loop again now, and then some.

Cushioned trainers like these, I assumed, would be sixty pounds. But York Boutique sells direct, so they were £29.95 in the summer sale. Worth every penny for walks I actually enjoy.
